47North Trading Company was a Seattle-based clearinghouse for surplus commodities I co-founded with several local partners. I helped found the trading company, but ultimately we decided to shut it down because large-scale country-to-country transactions ARE HARD. Sourcing the deals was difficult, but we the biggest issue we faced was ensuring we weren't cut out in late stages of deals. All in all a great learning experience in cultures, and geo-politics.
